We journey with God, to serve with love

April 26, 2020

Hello Bethlehem Faithfuls!

This is a picture of the beautiful orchid that Barbara and I have in our office. How, you ask, does this picture portray hope?  Look at the center, below the blossoms on the left hand stems, and you will see a new branch growing!  I’ve always thought budding flowers represented one of God’s most beautiful signs of hope. We know that with proper care, those buds will, in time, turn into pretty flowers. I am certain that, with proper care, we will all be able to worship together again soon! If you’re like me, social distancing and staying at home is starting to get tedious. I miss seeing your smiling faces and worshiping together, but staying the course is important!

I hope you have had a chance to tune in to some of our online services. Virtual Worship has been an amazingly innovative and creative process! What you see on the screen represents a ton of hard work and collaboration between various people, but I think everyone involved would agree with me that it is well worth the effort to be able to connect with you. I encourage you to visit our website at bethlehemtc.org to find information on how to join the Zoom Meetings both after service on Sundays and after the rebroadcast on Wednesday evenings. It’s nice to be able to see familiar faces!! If you’re having difficulty finding the information, please reach out. I monitor the phones and email daily, so someone will be able to get back to you with help.

These past weeks are nothing like anyone could have ever imagined. We have faced challenges and heartbreak, but also joy and happiness. The resilience of our congregation as God’s chosen people will always shine through!  Remember Jeremiah 29:11 - “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” God is in charge! And we WILL be together again, soon :-)
